Visit to the artist in the woods

Last weekend we took a little trip out into the Normandy countryside to see a small art exhibition at an artist's house in the woods.  She teachers here at the high-school and lives in the woods because her husband is the park ranger.  The house was just as gorgeous as the setting in the woods.

The whole backyard of the house was like a large botanical garden carved out of the woods.

There was a very nice koi pond there as well.  I swear some of those koi were a foot and a half long! This is something I didn't know before, but koi can actually grow to a pretty large size and the size depends mostly on the size of their living space.

The children of one of the other teachers from our school were there with their parents.  They had a blast running around and exploring the beautiful place.

They really enjoyed the little accents, like this snail, that she put in between the plants.

This frog was a hit as well.

This is an example of the sculptures that she makes.

She also made, pots, jewelry, sculptures (like the butterfly below) to put in the garden between the flowers and sculptures made out of soapstone.

She had a number of paintings on display as well.

I believe she made the flowerpot as well.

She was such a nice hostess and she served us tea and cookies after we saw her work!

It was right around dinnertime that we were eating the cookies, chocolate and tea, so I may have eaten a few more cookies than I really needed! They're just so good!
