First meeting of all assistants in the académie of Rouen

Today was the first meeting of all the language assistants in the académie of Rouen.  This means that today marks the first day of my official contract.
Mariel and I travelled with Anabelle, a Spanish teacher, to the university in Rouen for the day.  Most of the topics covered were rather boring and administrative about immigration etc., but we were all eager to hear about them since none of us wants to be deported!  There was also instruction on teaching, but we'll receive more direction in that area at the next meeting on the 10th of October.

Here is the room where we met all day. I found it rather peculiar that the walls were covered in particle board, but it didn't look temporary. Either the room was under construction, or someone really liked the look of particle board...

They also provided us with a nice lunch in the cantine. French school food in the cafeteria is actually pretty good here!
