There was a big ceremony because the church had been closed for a long time due to needed repairs and this was the official re-opening of it. They brought the bishop in to cut the ribbon.
Here she is with me! She's such a sweetheart.
This is the church from the outside. It is called Notre Dame de Blacqueville
There was a wonderful group that came from Paris to sing for the event. They're all from Cameroon.
And of course there had to be a string of speeches, five in fact, from this dignitary and that dignitary. They all want to get their bit in there and end up talking for 10 minutes. It was worth it though for the food they served afterwards!
After the reception we went back to her house, which is out in the middle of the country. There were fields of cows all around.
Her flock of chickens and ducks was thrilled to see her since she came bearing food!
They were so rude. They didn't pay any attention to me. Busy stuffing their gullets....
The cow lived in this barn. I couldn't get a good picture of her since it was too dark.
Véronique had so many interesting things in her house. It was like walking into an antique shop since she had so many interesting old objects.
See that cabinet with all the dishes at the end of the room? That was filled with the regional pottery that I posted about previously.
I was amazed at how intricate and pretty this pottery was. It was so thin that you could see right through to the painting on the outside!
She uses them for her tea! I wouldn't dare to touch them...
Look at how thin that is!
She cooked a wonderful dinner of chicken, potatoes, peas and shrimp with little sardine and salmon egg crackers before dinner.
Wow! I don't know how I missed this posting. I feel like I've been there. Your posts are able to bring a person into your experience. Thanks so much. The church and Veronique's home looks so cozy. What a beautiful life. <3
