Mariel showed me this evening how to make piñatas.
First we had to make sort of sauce with water and corn starch. It was thick and sticky. We covered scraps of paper with this paste and stuck them to the balloons and then added another layer on top.
To make them strong enough, we had to add multiple layers of the yellow paper to each.
They're funny looking things when done, but Mariel said that she'll show me tomorrow how to make them look pretty. In Mexico they make piñatas shaped like stars at Christmas time.
Of course we had to take a picture with our creations since we spent so much quality time smoothing down sticky goo all over them...I swear I had a solid layer of corn-starch gunk up to my elbows by the time I was done!
