Chateau de Lourmarin

Isabelle and Yann took me to the Chateau de Lourmarin as well while I was visiting them. This chateau has been preserved with many rooms containing authentic objects from when it was used as a residence.

The view from the second floor of the chateau was superb.

There was an inner courtyard that was surrounded by balconies for each floor. Around one corner, there was a ferocious dog that barked viciously from behind a gate at everyone who walked by! I'm sure if I had heart problems I would have had a heart-attack right then and there...I suppose they were trying to be authentic...

Yann obligingly took this photo and I would say he did a pretty good job! What a view. Can I please sign me up to live in this chateau?

This was the actual fireplace in the kitchen.  It's got to be hard to cook a meal like that, right?

The stairway was fantastically twisted and continued in the same manner for several floors. Each step was made of a single stone and some of them were so worn down in the middle that it was like a semi-circle.

I suppose this is where the master of the chateau sat to write his letters.

I'd like a room like this, please and thank you.

Someone who lived here had been a collector of asian instruments at one time. There was a whole room in the house dedicated to these instruments, as well as regular western instruments.

Finally, once we were done visiting the chateau, we bought sandwiches at a boulangerie and sat on a bench to eat them and admire the chateau from afar.

  1. I was hoping that you would show a picture of the sandwiches from the boulangerie. lol Was the pond shown in the first picture located in the inner courtyard? I would love to live in a house with an inner courtyard. Thanks for the lovely tour.
