Well we arrived in Barcelona and found that we hadn't even left Paris...
Then we went and got lunch. We ate out nearly every day because they have Menu options that are less than ten euros with a starter, a main course, a dessert, bread and wine. That's something you can't really pass up. This cold tomato soup (I've forgotten the name) was excellent.
We also realized that the hostel had the most delicious meals for only 5 euros. I have to say I was well fed in Spain.
We went and sat on the beach for a while in the sun, but it was cold when the clouds came in with the wind. Jenny however, hadn't been on a sand beach in a long time and jumped in anyway, clothes and all! Then she bought this colorful blanket from a man on the beach to cover her.
There were so many people all over selling things on the beach and it actually got rather annoying. Buy my sketchy mojitos! Would you like a massage? How about a henna tattoo? I'm not going to let you sleep because you need to buy my things.
We found this grammatically incorrect sports bar amusing.
The next day we took a free walking tour of the city. This was one of the churches they showed us. Somehow with so much attention on the Sagrada Familia I didn't even think about there being other churches there!
Our tour guide, Ian, explained that it is a tradition in Barcelona to make huge human towers. This chicken-wire-like statue is meant to represent that.
Ian also talked a lot about the fact that Catalonia would like to split away from Spain. This flag is the symbol of the movement to break away. They were all over the place.
There was a good amount of interesting street art everywhere. Apparently they have a walking tour of the street art as well, but we didn't have time for that.
